Course Overview: In this course students learn how to create project schedules, work with various project views, create and outline tasks, assign task relationships, apply constraints, calendars, and deadline dates, create and assign resources, and assign and track project costs.

Students learn how to evaluate and adjust project time factors, resources, and costs. Students also learn how to track project progress; use custom tables, filters, and forms; customize views, reports, and printed views; share information with other users; and work with consolidated projects. This course also includes an appendix that presents the functions and features of Project Central.

Student requests prompted us to design a 3rd day of Microsoft Project training! You asked and we listened!  You will plan a project from the outset. Review the most common mistakes made when creating and editing calendars, changing task relationships, and examining the calculation that project performs when you assign resources. You will experiment with changing the four task types and analyzing how this change effects the duration, work, or units in your project. Resources, cost rate tables, and availability will be evaluated. Learn what shortcut we will use to identify the critical path and non-critical path tasks, format the Gantt Chart to your specifications and identify over-allocation of assigned resources?

Resolving over-allocation and identifying slack will help simplify the data we enter. The no-fail method of evaluating and adjusting costs, resource allocations and the critical path will help you plan projects more easily. You will learn to baseline your project to begin tracking actuals, and save valuable time by analyzing performance of you plan and reschedule tasks. Increase the essential skills to be able to customize tables, filters, views and reports. Fundamentals of shared resources pools, master projects and sub-projects will be reviewed. You can bring a project you are working on (no proprietary information) and together as a class, we will analyze your data.
